The role
Trust Payments (Malta) Ltd (TPML) a regulated entity in the financial services space is looking to recruit the services of an Associate Information Security Officer (ISO) to assist in overseeing the company’s ICT Security function.

Covering aspects of physical, digital and electronic security this position will report on overall risk in this area and assist in implementing appropriate security programs to address these. A major component of the position is to provide business value by establishing smooth cooperation between the company and its outsourced partners, in particular Trust Payments Group.

The task calls for an individual who is either well-versed and up to date on the latest threat landscape or can assimilate that knowledge very quickly. The role demands an individual who can work in a team or individually and seeks to enhance ICT security for the Malta entity and the organization as a whole to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

The chosen candidate will receive on-the-job training and mentorship by other members of the IT Security team.

Key responsibilities

  • Delivering cyber security presentations for board, risk and audit committees

  • Assisting with the staff security awareness training programs for both new and existing employees

  • Collaborating with Department Managers and Team Leaders to identify any IT security needs

  • Providing independent security assurance (governance, risk and compliance) that the Malta entity’s outsourced IT security function remains compliant with security standards and regulatory authorities

  • Help develop, edit and manage the Malta entity’s IT security policies and ensure their alignment with Group IT Security policies but understand where divergence must be maintained

  • Assist / manage the entity’s annual penetration tests and conduct the monthly vulnerability scans ensuring weaknesses are addressed

  • Assist with the maintenance of the cyber essentials certification

  • Maintain the TPML IT Security Risk Register

  • Maintain and publish monthly security and audit KPI’s for the Malta Exec and Group CTO

  • Develop, plan and manage IT security projects, under the direction of the Group IT Security Manager

  • Work with the IT Security team and IT helpdesk to respond to security alerts and emergencies

  • Identify and address potential and actual security risks and issues on a continual basis

  • Conduct monthly security audits and security reviews of key IT services and devices

  • Complete and return 3rd party IT security questionnaires together with any IT security regulatory returns (MFSA, FCA, CBM etc)


You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field experience or demonstrable interest in cybersecurity

  • Ideally experience in an Information Security role, an IT Support role or similar

  • Ideally, experience or familiarity in conducting IT security risk assessments and auditing security controls

  • Familiar with Microsoft 365 and Azure security portals is desirable

  • Documentation skills with Excel, Work and Visio would be good

  • Awareness of common security threats, hacking techniques, ICT vulnerabilities and methods of mitigating these

  • IT Security certifications are considered an asset

  • Excellent communication skills
