Duties and Responsibilities
- To maintain an ongoing safe electrical supply all times throughout the complete plant systems;
- Be capable of preventing, diagnosing, tracing technical faults and solving any electrical faults that may arise;
- Capable of designing electrical systems in an efficient and safe manner;
- To ensure his / her own safety by abiding by health and safety protocols, using the appropriate tools, ensuring suitable workmanship and being cautious of the health and wellbeing of other peers and laymen throughout Wasteserv facilities;
- To discuss any foreseen improvement throughout the line of work with his / her superior and implement this within the system;
- To carry out electrical installations with the laying of wires and all associated components, apparatus, fixtures, support systems and other electrical equipment as per national electrical code and safety requirements;
- To make use of hand tools, power tools and technical instruments throughout the line of duty;
- To be responsible for any tools and equipment entrusted, thus making sure these are maintained in correct working condition, performing any upkeep necessary and informing the responsible for any due calibration;
- To take ownership of any task at hand and consider a fault-finding, problem-solving attitude to minimise facility downtime;
- To establish structured documentation and filing to facilitate retrieval for future reference of documents, schematics, electrical drawings and any related information;
- To provide sufficient support information to facilitate the decision-making process within the working group and toward the superiors;
- To maintain a clean workspace, organizing moving parts and tools within the workshop and on-site;
- To contribute and adhere to the safety requirements of the delivery and distribution of electric power;
- To be confident in working at heights, in enclosed spaces and in the waste management environment whilst adhering to all health and safety procedures and precautions;
- To always assume and consider ultimate responsibility at all times;
- To compile all the necessary Job sheets and other documentation as required;
- Any other duties as directed from time to time as instructed by your Superiors;
- Attend all obligatory training as required by the company in order to be able to fulfil the role whilst obtaining the relevant knowledge, skills and techniques.
Eligibility Criteria
The selected candidates should be:
- In possession of wiremen’s Electrical licence ‘A’ and licence ‘B’ with a minimum of 1 year of related work experience;
- Able to successfully complete industrial transition to PLC programming (using Siemens, Alien Bradley and OMRON) or equivalent, within a period of 1 year from starting date, provided by the company.
Moreover the selected candidate must
- Have a valid and clean driving licence (A copy must be presented with the application)
- Have valid and clean police conduct (A copy must be presented with the application)
- Be ICT competent;
- Be capable of carrying heavy loads (up to 25kg);
- Be capable of reading and interpreting electrical drawings / schematics;
- Be practical to find a suitable, safe and sustainable solution to the situation at hand;
- Be able to relate all information to peers and superior/s when describing the work performed or providing information to hand over to others;
- Be proficient in the English, technical English and Maltese languages;
- Have the ability to identify, analyse and solve problems;
- Be able to work on own initiative / in a team with minimum supervision;
- A diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (level 4) shall be considered an asset.
