We are seeking a Group Data Protection Officer to join our team in Malta who will be reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer.

Objectives:

  • Nurturing a data protection culture within the organisation and strengthening the implementation of essential elements of the GDPR

  • Risk management related to data protection;

  • Responding to and processing data subject access requests;

  • Maintaining the record of processing operations and key repositories of personal data under the responsibility of the controller, and managing related data protection inventories;

  • Driving a data risk culture for a strong awareness towards personal data;

  • Assisting with the implementation, management and monitoring of the data protection strategy and the creation and roll-out of policies, guidelines, and data protection awareness training;

  • Acting as the contact person for the designated supervisory and other data protection authorities;

  • Acting as the key person for inquiries from EU data subjects;

  • Providing necessary mentoring, training and guidance to staff on data protection matters as well as overseeing overall unit results;

  • Provide additional support where required and may also be required to assist and liaise with the MLRO on matters related to corporate integrity and probity requirements.


Key Skills:

  • MQF level 6 degree or higher education in any one of the following: banking, finance, business, law, computing discipline or related area;

  • Have proven expertise in Maltese and European data protection laws and practices and regulatory requirements related to security, privacy and data protection, preferably having 5 years of hands-on work experience in the monitoring, application and / or implementation of these principles;

  • Have strong experience in the field of GDPR sanctioning and general security concepts and methods;

  • Have a good understanding of the financial and gaming services sector and activities.


The salary for this job is based on experience, so whilst we are not able to go into detail at this stage, we can say that we offer competitive salary packages, health benefits and discretionary performance bonuses.
