The National Statistics Office is looking for talented individuals who are keen to embark on a statistical career with specialisation in survey interviewing as an Administration Officer 4.

The prospective employee will be recruited on a full-time indefinite contract and will be part of a team of Survey Interviewers, primarily stationed at the Malta International Airport (departures lounge), and work on a 12-hourly shift basis (day-night-rest-off).

At the discretion of the Management, Administration Officers 4 may be requested to work during office hours on a five-day week.

Besides very good written and verbal communication skills in the English language and any other official European language; preferably Maltese.

The successful candidate must have

  • Excellent level of interpersonal skills;

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (preferably qualified with a European Computer Driving License - ECDL);

  • Sound numerical and IT skills;

  • The ability to work in a team and on individual projects; and

  • The ability to plan and manage multiple projects within the stipulated deadlines.


Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of an Administration Officer 4 with specialisation in survey interviewing include:

  • Coordinating, supervising and monitoring data collection projects and processes;

  • Acting as a senior survey interviewer for tourism surveys and other projects, in line with set methodologies, by personal or telephone interviewing;

  • Administrative support in surveys and other projects as deemed necessary by the Head of Unit, including data entry, coding, and updating of registers;

  • Assisting the senior management in administrative tasks such as scheduling;

  • Reporting to the Tourism and Culture Statistics Unit on data collection procedures executed at points of data collection such as the Airport (Tourstat Survey).


Salary and other benefits
The position of Administration Officer 4 offers an annual starting salary of €24,038 for the year 2024, rising by annual increments subject to a positive performance review. This remuneration excludes a shift allowance, and any Sunday and Public Holidays allowances, whilst also excluding any qualification allowances and overtime pay, which are reimbursed separately on an ad-hoc basis, as the need arises.

Training provided

Requirements
By the closing time and date of this call for applications, applicants must be in possession of:

  • A recognised certificate at MQF Level 4 in a relevant subject area


Or

  • Two (2) Advanced level subject qualifications relevant to the post, together with ten (10) years, or equivalent, of relevant experience.
