Crane Currency has an immediate position opening for a Print Machine Minder based in Malta.

How you will make an impact
The Machine Minder is responsible for the loading of paper in the machine feeder, ensures continuous running of the press safely and assists the Printer and Lead Printer as required as part of a team. With a keen eye for detail, the Machine Minder will inspect the quality of finished products to ensure that all the printed sheets are matched to the quality standard as approved by the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the printing of Lithography wet or dry, Intaglio and Letterpress sheets and all ancillary machines.

  • Prepares, sets -up and operates printing press for printing.

  • Cleans and full wash machine and replenishes workstations with supplies.

  • Ensures that batch cards correspond with the proper batch.

  • Forms part of an autonomous maintenance team and assists in other areas of operations when needed.

  • Ensures that company quality procedures and standards are met.

  • Recognizes and resolves quality issues that fall within Quality Assurance’s defined parameters. Identifies new quality issues as they arise and notify Senior Printer.

  • Ensures everyone is following the safety guidelines and practices put in place by Crane.

  • Stops work and reports any safety breaches or violations to the Print Team Lead or a safety committee member.

  • Identifies cost savings and efficiency improvement opportunities without compromising quality.

  • It is the employee’s responsibility to comply with the Company’s safety policies, ensuring that all personal protective equipment is in place and that good judgment and care are exercised to prevent accidents and personal injury.

Knowledge and expertise that matters most for this role

  • Required:

    • O’ level certificate in English, Maths and Maltese.

    • Ability to understand, read, write and communicate well in English.

    • Previous experience in the printing environment is an asset.

    • Post-secondary Diploma/certificate in printing would be preferred.

    • Possess basic knowledge of MS Excel and Word.

    • To always act and behave in a way compliant with all Company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to Environment Health and Safety, ethics and codes of conduct.
