Cafeteria Assistant

The Malta Experience, a subsidiary of the M. Demajo Group, is seeking to recruit a part-time Cafeteria Assistant to join its current team. The successful candidate will be providing a friendly, efficient and professional service to visitors whilst supporting the day-to-day operation of the cafeteria.

Main duties will include:

• Welcoming customers in a professional manner and taking customer orders efficiently;

• Serving food, snacks, hot and cold beverages and other cafeteria products;

• Ensuring that food is stored, displayed and served appropriately;

• Replenishing beverages and other cafeteria supplies and assisting with receiving and checking deliveries;

• Handling customer requests, feedback and complaints professionally;

• Cleaning tables, counters, equipment, floors and service areas and ensuring that these are always kept clean and presentable;

• Operating the cash register and/or POS system and assisting with opening and closing cash procedures;

• Promoting cafeteria products and identifying opportunities to increase sales;

• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock counts and inventory checks;

• Assisting with opening and closing the cafeteria;

• Supporting the team during events, busy visitor periods and special functions;

• Following all the applicable food hygiene, health and safety procedures.

The selected candidate must:

• Be is possession of a Food Handling license;

• Have good written and verbal communication skills in English;

• Have excellent customer service and communication skills;

• Be friendly, approachable and possess a helpful attitude;

• Be able to work effectively as part of a team and efficiently in a busy environment;

• Possess good numeracy skills and the ability to handle cash accurately;

• Be able to follow food hygiene, health and safety, and workplace procedures;

• Be reliable, organised and punctual;

• Maintain high standards of personal grooming and professional appearance;

• Be able to remain calm and helpful during busy periods.

Previous experience in a cafeteria, café, restaurant or hospitality sector will be considered as an advantage.
