Our Operations team at Multitude Bank is looking for a Payments Officer to join us in Malta. You’ll ensure high-quality transaction processing, resolve payment-related issues, and support internal teams in a fast-paced, regulated fintech environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives on delivering accuracy and service excellence.

Your focus

  • Process payment transactions efficiently and accurately in line with service-level expectations

  • Handle payment inquiries and support internal departments such as Customer Support, Collections, and Reconciliation

  • Investigate payment issues with banks and PSPs; follow up on internal JIRA tickets as needed

  • Document best practices, apply process learnings, and reduce recurring errors through collaboration

  • Assist with onboarding and monitoring new payment systems and platform upgrades

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and service

  • Participate in internal and external training initiatives

  • Ensure strict compliance with bank policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and audit guidelines

  • Support ad hoc tasks and projects within the Payments Department as assigned

  • Additional responsibilities (for pay-out function):

    • Monitor and manage liquidity across accounts

    • Investigate lending, deposit, and mobile banking transaction issues

    • Support blocking/unblocking and closure of mobile bank accounts

    • Oversee SWIFT and SEPA payments, including message recall and reconciliation workflows

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Payments or a similar operations function

  • A degree in Business or a related field is a plus

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and adaptable team player

  • Confident using Microsoft Office tools

  • Willingness to travel occasionally, if required
