Assistant Project Manager

Motherwell Bridge Industries Limited is seeking to recruit an Assistant Project Manager based in Malta. The role reports to the Projects and QHSE Manager and plays a dual function, providing equal support to project delivery activities while overseeing the Company’s Health and Safety and Quality responsibilities in the capacity of Health, Safety and Quality Officer.

Project Support: Support planning, coordination, and monitoring of projects (schedule, budget, quality); Prepare / maintain project documentation (reports, registers, correspondence, method statements). Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams; support site visits/mobilisation as required.

Health and Safety Responsibilities: Support compliance with Company policies and OHSA / legal and client requirements; Draft, issue, and maintain RAMS, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and permits (as applicable); Maintain H&S records (inductions, training, PPE, inspections) and support audits / inspections; Assist with incident / near-miss reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.

Quality Responsibilities: Support upkeep and improvement of the QMS in line with ISO requirements; Assist document control (procedures, forms, registers, records) and internal audits / CAPAs; Support quality records / inspections and reporting as required.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial) or a related technical discipline.

• Qualification in Project Management (or related discipline) is considered an asset.

• Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting / managing projects within heavy engineering.

• Proven experience in quality management / QMS; ISO knowledge / experience is considered an asset.

• Experience in health and safety compliance and documentation (RAMS, risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident / near-miss investigations) will be given preference.

• IOSH / NEBOSH (or similar) is considered a strong asset.

• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and meet deadlines.

• Good communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
