Melita Marine Group is seeking a Purchasing Officer to support procurement across its marine, shipyard, engineering, energy and commercial diving businesses.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, commercially aware and comfortable working to operational deadlines. The Purchasing Officer will source materials and services, process orders, follow up with suppliers and help ensure that teams receive what they need when they need it.

Key responsibilities

  • Obtain and compare quotations for parts, materials, equipment and subcontracted services.

  • Prepare purchase orders in line with approved requests, budgets and purchasing procedures.

  • Follow up on orders, confirm delivery dates and escalate delays affecting operations or projects.

  • Check order confirmations, delivery documents and invoices, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and Finance.

  • Maintain accurate supplier, pricing and purchasing records in the Group’s systems.

  • Assist with supplier evaluations, price negotiations and the identification of alternative sources.

  • Coordinate with colleagues responsible for stores, freight and logistics to support timely delivery in Malta and overseas.

  • Support the Group Procurement Manager with expenditure reports, stock reviews and improvements to purchasing processes.

Requirements

  • At least two years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or a similar supply chain role.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Confidence in requesting quotations, comparing offers and following orders through to delivery.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and purchasing or ERP systems.

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work with suppliers, Finance and technical teams.

  • Experience in a marine, engineering, industrial or technical environment would be an advantage.

  • A procurement qualification or relevant further education would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will be proactive, dependable and able to manage several requests at once without losing sight of cost, quality or delivery.
