Assistant Financial Controller

Overview of the role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance Team. The successful candidate will support the Financial Controller in managing the finance function, with responsibility for month-end reporting, management accounts, financial controls, and oversight of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The position is based at our logistical facility in Birżebbuġa, Malta.

Your challenge:

• Support the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Prepare management accounts, financial reports, and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Assist with group reporting, statutory accounts, and audit requirements.

• Supervise the Accounts Payable function, including supplier payments and reconciliations.

• Collaborate with the Receivables team to ensure accurate revenue recognition and timely billing.

• Monitor cash flow, treasury activities, and banking administration.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

• Ensure compliance with IFRS, VAT, tax, and internal financial control requirements.

• Assist in strengthening financial processes, controls, and team development.

What are we looking for:

• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial reporting, accounting, or financial control, including team supervision.

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, management reporting, and month-end close processes.

• Experience in multi-entity and multi-currency environments.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP accounting systems.

• Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

• Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central and group reporting will be considered an asset.
