Digital Transformation Programme
MITA is seeking to recruit a Solutions Architect to support the Digital Transformation Programme within the Digital Enabling Services department (DESD). The role focuses on the design, delivery, operation, and evolution of strategic national and European digital services, including Malta’s eID platform, eIDAS Node, European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW), Single Digital Gateway (SDG), and related digital trust services. These initiatives form a key part of DESD's strategy to modernise digital identity, enhance interoperability, and support Malta’s alignment with emerging European frameworks.
The selected candidate will be responsible for defining solution architectures, ensuring platforms are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with business, operational, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with stakeholders, technical teams, and suppliers, the architect will contribute to the delivery of mission-critical services supporting citizens, businesses, and public administrations both nationally and across the EU.
Candidates should possess a strong software engineering background with hands-on experience in enterprise application development, cloud-hosted environments, APIs, mobile solutions, and modern software architecture practices. Expertise in technologies such as C#, Java, .NET Core, containerisation, security, DevOps, and high-availability architectures is highly desirable. Experience in digital identity technologies, authentication protocols, public key infrastructure, cryptography, SAML, OpenID Connect, and OAuth 2.0 will be considered an asset.
This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape Malta’s future digital identity landscape and contribute directly to nationally significant digital transformation initiatives.
