Job description
The Junior Sommelier will be working closely with the Head Sommelier in selecting wines, creating wine lists, and providing expert guidance to patrons on wine selection and pairings.
Key responsibilities
Training staff on wine selection, service techniques, and food and wine pairings.
Engaging with guests to understand their preferences and recommend wines that suit their tastes and budgets.
Offering personalised wine pairing suggestions to enhance the dining experience and maximise sales.
Providing exceptional customer service by delivering attentive and knowledgeable assistance to patrons.
Overseeing the storage and inventory management of wines to ensure optimal quality and freshness.
Implementing proper cellar procedures, including temperature and humidity control, bottle rotation, and organisation.
Monitoring inventory levels and reordering wines as needed to maintain stock availability.
Supporting in the F&B Service operation
The potential candidate will ideally possess the following skills and qualities
Previous experience in a similar role.
Prior experience working in a fine dining restaurant with a Michelin star or a similar rating will be considered an asset.
Fluency in English.
Extensive knowledge of wines, including grape varietals, wine regions, and production methods.
Certification from a recognised sommelier programme (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine and Spirit Education Trust).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate customers effectively.
Excellent wine tasting and evaluation abilities.
Exceptional customer service skills, with a focus on delivering personalised and memorable experiences.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
