Storekeeper

Job Overview

Department: Inventory and Logistics / Supply Chain.

Reports to: Store Manager or Logistics Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Receiving stock: Unload incoming delivery trucks, count items, and check goods for damage or missing products.

• Inventory control: Update inventory management software or spreadsheets with incoming and outgoing stock.

• Stock rotation: Organise items using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method to ensure older stock is used or placed on shelves first.

• Shelf replenishment: Move products from the storage room to the supermarket sales floor as needed.

• Stock audits: Perform regular physical counts of inventory to find discrepancies, damages, or expired goods.

• Supplier coordination: Report damaged goods for returns or refunds and alert management when reorders are necessary.

• Safety and cleanliness: Keep the storage area clean, safe, and organised according to health and safety regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience: Previous experience working in a warehouse, stockroom, or retail environment.

• Technical skills: Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory software or point-of-sale (POS) systems.

• Physical stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy boxes or pallets.

• Certifications: A valid driving license is necessary.

• Soft skills: Strong attention to detail, good time management, and clear communication abilities.

• Language: A good command of the English language is a must.
