Social Support Worker

The Position

The aim of Fondazzjoni Dar il-Hena includes assisting service users who are homeless and alleviating poverty through its shelters and services. The selected candidate shall therefore have the necessary skills in order to be able to provide service users with ongoing support in a holistic manner in order for them to move forward in their lives. In addition, the Social Support Worker shall be responsible in assisting in the general running and upkeeping of the shelters, which includes ensuring that all the service users are abiding by shelter regulations and procedures. 

Responsibilities:

• Formulating care plans in collaboration with the head of the home and other professionals and guiding the service user to follow it

• Assessing service users’ needs

• Assisting service users with employment and in finding affordable rent

• Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports

• Participating in training, supervision and staff meetings

Eligibility Criteria:

The successful candidate shall meet the following criteria:

• Essential: A recognised qualification in Residential and Day Care Work

• A degree qualification in a social wellbeing subject (MQF Level 6) would be an asset

• Have previous experience with vulnerable persons; direct experience with the homeless community is an asset

• The ability to deliver high-quality client care

• Strong interpersonal communication and organisation skills

• Be mature with a strong professional work ethic and sound moral values

• Ability to work on own initiative as well as within a team

• Proficient IT user

• Be prepared to work on a shift basis
