EMDP currently handles a portfolio of design, development, project management and handing over works ranging from  

  • The €60 million building of the quay and sea-land reclamation in the Grand Harbour of Valletta; 

  • The €34 million installation of shore-to-ship power infrastructure in the Grand Harbour of Valletta (allowing ships to switch off their engines when in port, reducing emissions); 

  • The €50 million Vincent Moran Health Hub Hospital 

  • The €14 million development of MICAS – the Malta International Contemporary Art Space museum,

  • The €12 million Asset Recovery Bureau security building for the Courts of Malta

  • The €10 million Tal-Hofra and Ta Qali industrial complexes

  • A number of security and military-related projects, hotels, schools, offices, mixed-use and residential buildings, as well as roads, public open spaces / gardens and infrastructure works, etc.

EMDP is seeking to expand its core team of professionals by recruiting, amongst others, a Malta-based Architect / Project Illustrator.

The position calls for individuals who are in possession of a license to work as an Architect within a country of the European Union and/or the Country of origin of the selected candidate; with at least 10 years experience (preferably designing at least 1 large building/infrastructure project with a completion budget of over €20 million). Experience in commercial, museum. hospital, hotel and leisure buildings, and other innovative / specialist buildings will be given preference. Experience in the drawing up of specifications and contract documentation is considered an asset. Filmmaking skills are considered an asset.

Fluency in 2D drafting, 3D modelling and BIM software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit is necessary. Demonstrated experience in the production of 3D models, photomontages, the production of walk throughs, digital presentation production and other presentation skills is a must. A portfolio of works is to be presented quoting software packages and medium used.

The chosen applicant is to transfer to Malta; travel; work in a small, versatile, tight knit team with experiences spanning from the initial conceptual stages to the evolution of design, follow up of development permit submission, detailed design, tender preparations, supervision/certification of construction and finishing as well as contract management.  

Minimum Role Requirements

  • Proven fluency in written and spoken English is a must

  • In possession of a clean and valid international driving license

Academic Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture

    • (MQF Level 6 from an internationally recognised university); or higher

  • Master’s degree in Architecture

    • (MQF Level 7 from an internationally recognised university); or higher

  • Postgraduate or 3D software or modelling qualifications

Professional Background

  • A warrant / license and / or membership in a nationally recognised body to work as an Architect

  • Enabled to work on Highrise buildings (unlimited no. of floors)

  • Experienced in innovative / specialist building and masterplans

Work Experience

  • A minimum of ten year post-qualification and post-warrant / licence / membership acquisition work experience 

  • Architect or equivalent role of at least one (1) innovative / specialist building project with a value of not less than €20 million and a minimum of 15,000 m2 floor area completed between 2019 to June 2024
