Summary
To engage with the Corinthia team, focusing within the organisation and providing comprehensive Learning and Development to all employees to support the achievement of corporate and individual vision and goals. To effectively plan, research, design and deliver new talent initiatives. To assist and work closely with the Human Resources Team to operate an effective and efficient Human Resources and Talent department to ensure innovation and compliance with best practice, Corinthia policies and current legislation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Keeps abreast of the newest trends and innovations in the hospitality industry and within Talent Development
Networks with the learning and development and hospitality community, acting as an ambassador for Corinthia
Attends seminars, webinars and participates in online forums in areas of benefit to the business. To share the latest Learning and Development philosophies with the HR and Talent team, HODs and / or colleagues as appropriate, to enhance the development of individuals and the business
Is present within the operation on a daily basis, demonstrating an enquiring mind to identify talent development, quality and procedural needs and to support departmental trainers and Head of Departments within their work environment. Adopts a flexible approach to working hours, observing the business at different times of day and during different days of the week and at weekends / during important events as required
Analyses guest and colleague feedback reports (e.g. Market Metrix, Hotel iQ, LQA assessments, Colleague Satisfaction surveys, TripAdvisor feedback etc.) on a daily basis, in particular focusing on trends that emerge and planning Talent Development initiatives to meet priority needs within the business
Runs a quarterly (and no less than six monthly) training needs analysis with each Head of Department so as to effectively adjust and enhance talent development priorities, In addition to analysis of probation and performance review data
Plans, presents and ensures provision for all annual required Learning and Development activities in line with business needs and projections within our comprehensive annual budget
Takes responsibility for purchasing all required training materials, resources and providers in line with our company's purchase order and invoicing procedures
Is an effective talent development ambassador, communicating all future and past Learning and Development initiatives imaginatively and effectively through all colleague communication channels and media, as appropriate (e.g. HOD meetings, Quarterly full team meetings, Colleague recognition and award ceremonies, “Spirit” colleague magazine, Talent Development noticeboards, Fourth Hospitality on-line bulletins, colleague facebook pages, emails and texts, colleague restaurant flyers etc.)
Analyses and evaluates all Learning and Development activities on a monthly basis. Communicates to executives, HODs and colleagues the success of various Learning and Development initiatives, demonstrating their positive impact on the business
Maintain effective communication within the HR and Talent department and ensure that the team are aware of all Learning and Development initiatives and advise when support is required
Communicates openly with the Director of Human Resources at regular one-to-one meetings and on a daily basis, ensuring that they are kept well informed of all planned initiatives and their success as well as any challenges that have arisen and which require support
Communicates openly with the Executive and Head of Department teams where there is cause for concern or where successes are to be celebrated
Attends and fully participates in all related Head of Department meetings together / in conjunction with fellow HODs within the HR and Talent team
Network with Head of Departments and Executives to ensure an effective flow of communication and to offer support, coaching, mentoring and guidance as required
Is fully conversant with the Corinthia Employee Handbook and as well as CHI Learning and Development policies
Prioritises and flexes all Learning and Development activity in accordance with the priority needs of the business
Works with the Director of HR to set all Learninag nd Development SMART objectives and works with effective timelines and priority management mechanisms to deliver these successfully
Leads and supports the Corinthia team through a path of successive Learning and Development initiatives which drive the Spirit of Corinthia, which embeds our Craftsmanship of Care values, which deliver promises set by the company for personal career development and realisation of ambitions for colleagues, and which leads to business success
Builds relationships with Corinthia colleagues through presence within the operation, through Learning and Development programmes and by attending and supporting all colleague-related events both on-site and off-site
Creates innovative, engaging and inspiring Learning and Development programmes to be presented personally, by departmental trainers, training champions or external Learning and Development consultants and providers (as appropriate)
Uses a variety of audience-appropriate learning methods, including learning material, e-learning, classroom-based learning, learning tools, external courses, external consultancy-led programmes, apprenticeship schemes, and government-funded schemes and such like
Updates programmes with the latest imagery, language and thinking, thereby ensuring that Learning and Development is ever evolving
Offers individual coaching and mentoring or to set up such support with internal or external coaches and mentors as needed
Communicates and plans for the coordination and delivery of all Learning and Development initiatives, including careful organising and scheduling of training space both in-house and externally where required. To be responsible for overseeing the setup of equipment for all Learning and Development programmes.
Works with the Talent Selection Manager to create links with charities and educational providers both in the UK and abroad. Develops meaningful work experience and graduate development programmes, which are widely regarded within our industry
Works with the Group Learning and Development Manager for CHI to support the rollout of company-wide talent development initiatives. Supports the piloting of new initiatives at Corinthia as required
Takes responsibility for ensuring that all statutory training is delivered in an effective and timely manner by external providers or through e-learning as appropriate
Ensures a continual delivery cycle of the following programmes (or similar) to support the business to:

Interviewing techniques
Performance review techniques
Presentation skills
Sales techniques
Highly effective leadership skills
Delivers or arranges the delivery of Leadership Development and / or skills programmes so that our Executive and Head of Department team experience advancement in their own careers
Facilitates or assists in the facilitation of outward bound activities, brainstorming events, and strategic setting events as appropriate
Quality test aspects of the business as required during observations or as a guest. To source other providers of quality testing and to support departments as feedback is given
Works closely with and assists colleagues responsible for quality standards throughout the business to ensure that analysis and evaluation of quality standards is effective, that Market Metrix reports are being regularly assessed by all departments, and that related action plans are being completed promptly and are supported by new L&D material and initiatives
Works with the Director of HR, HR Manager and HR and Talent team to develop an engaging programme of colleague performance and development reviews and objective setting tools, with clear metrics to support analysis and reporting of all such activity
Develops a process of people meetings to be held with the Director of HR, HR Manager, Executives and Head of Departments from each area of the business to determine future requirements of the business and to plan and support the development of our team members to meet such needs
Focuses on the creation / improvement / effectiveness of talent mapping and succession planning programmes to fulfil our aim of “growing” our future leaders
Ensures that people meetings, along with personal development reviews, demonstrate CHL’s commitment to its team members and provide a focus on
Ensuring that personal aspirations are being supported by the Executive, Head of Department and the business through structured plans and training
Ensuring that colleagues are actively pursuing their stated career or development aspirations and that their achievements are recorded so that CHL has a clear picture of where Talent lies
Ensure that departmental succession plans are being supported by team member development and internal recruitment activities
Ensures that all training administration is accurately formatted, completed and up to date. To engage departmental trainers and / or training interns in entering training records and L&D material on a shared L&D database. To issue monthly reports on all training activities
Is fully conversant with the workings and potential of our Human Resources Software, “Fourth Hospitality”
Supports our Talent Selection Manager at industry/institute networking and awards events, headhunting new talent and Craftspeople for Corinthia Hotel
Works with PR to enter Corinthia high performing colleagues for all relevant industry / specialism awards to motivate colleagues, inspire pride in our colleagues and to create great PR for Corinthia as an employer of choice
Builds professional relationships with key L&D providers and consultants, negotiating rates in line with company guidelines
Fully supports the HR and Talent team with the organisation and coordination of colleague events

As the hotel's level of business varies considerably, there is a need for flexibility in attitude, approach and working hours
