Optical Retail Chain Supervisor

We’re looking for a hands-on Retail Chain Supervisor to oversee day-to-day shop operations, support staff across our three retail locations, and work closely with senior management to help grow our retail franchise business.

Job Purpose

The Retail Chain Supervisor is responsible for supporting and supervising the operations of our retail stores, with a strong presence on the shop floor. This includes overseeing customer care, sales performance, team supervision, stock management, and day-to-day store coordination across our three locations in Sliema, Qormi (PAVI), and Victoria (Gozo). The role also includes regular travel to Gozo and works closely with the Commercial Manager to align on sales and service targets.

Who You Are

You are a hands-on team leader with solid retail experience and a natural ability to guide and motivate others. You take pride in excellent customer service, understand how to drive sales in a store environment, and can confidently manage shop-floor teams across multiple locations. You’re reliable, approachable, organised, and ready to roll up your sleeves to make things happen.

Previous optical retail experience is a plus, but not a must.

Who You'll Be Working With

As Retail Chain Supervisor, you will report to our Commercial Business Manager and collaborate with other senior managers across the organisation. You’ll also work directly with store staff across all three locations and support other departments such as HR, Marketing, and Finance.

Services and Product Portfolio
You will be working with a wide range of optical products and services, including:

• Optical frames and sunglasses

• Contact lenses and lens care products

• In-store services such as eye tests and other eye care services

Key Responsibilities

Customer and Store Operations

• Oversee the daily running of 3 stores and maintain high customer service standards

• Ensure tidy, well-presented shop floors and adherence to health & safety procedures

• Build good relationships with in-store professionals and support day-to-day operations

Sales and Stock

• Support stores in reaching sales targets and tracking performance

• Manage stock levels, replenishments, and store promotions in collaboration with marketing

People and Team Management

• Supervise store staff and coordinate weekly schedules

• Travel regularly between stores to provide on-site support

• Monitor attendance, approve leave requests, and support staff motivation and performance

Reporting and Communication

• Provide regular updates on store performance

• Flag and follow up on any issues, while ensuring smooth communication with other departments

Required Skills, Abilities and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail, including leading a small team (5+ people)

• Strong customer service and sales focus

• Hands-on and practical, with a can-do attitude

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Organised and reliable with strong attention to detail

• Comfortable travelling regularly between stores (Gozo travel required)

Experience in optical retail, pharmacy, fashion, or another semi-medical retail environment will be considered an asset, but not essential.

Working Conditions

• Full Time – Indefinite Contract

• Based in-store with regular travel to all three locations (Sliema, Qormi and Victoria) as well as our Head Office in San Gwann

• Normal shop opening hours apply – some flexibility may be required
