Class Optical – Malta’s leading specialist organization within the optical industry, serving the local market for over 40 years – is seeking a dedicated IT Systems Coordinator to support our state-of-the-art optical lens manufacturing operations. Job Purpose

As an IT Systems Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of computer systems and software critical to optical lens manufacturing. From maintaining IT infrastructure to managing optical lens databases, you’ll ensure a smooth production process while providing accurate data insights. This position is based at our manufacturing laboratory in San Gwann (Malta, EU), reporting to the Head of Manufacturing.

Who You Are

You’re a proactive problem-solver with advanced technical expertise and a passion for data and process optimization. With at least 3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within manufacturing, you excel at troubleshooting IT systems, managing data, and training others.

You have strong SQL knowledge, familiarity with optical manufacturing software, and an eagerness to drive innovation and efficiency in the workplace.

Who You'll Be Working With

As an integral part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll collaborate closely with the Head of Manufacturing, cross-functional teams, and external IT vendors to implement solutions and improvements. Your work will ensure our IT systems are aligned with the needs of our fast-paced and innovative production environment.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • System maintenance and optimization: Maintain and optimize IT systems and optical lens-related software, troubleshoot issues and liaise with internal or external IT support.

  • Data management and analysis: Manage production data, maintain lens databases, and create reports to support quality control and process improvements.

  • Training and documentation: Train staff on IT systems and develop FAQs, manuals, and best practices for self-sufficient troubleshooting.

  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process efficiency, and technology innovation within the manufacturing environment.

  • Security and compliance: Ensure data security and support compliance audits for IT infrastructure related to optical lens manufacturing.

Required Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Experience and Knowledge:

    • At least 3 years in a similar IT role in a manufacturing environment.

    • Familiarity with optical lens catalogues and optical lens manufacturing equipment would be an asset.

    • Proficiency in lab management systems and software like rxOffice, Lensware, or equivalent would be an asset.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Advanced SQL and MS SQL database skills.

    • Experience with databases, BI reporting and MS Excel (complex formulas and analysis).

    • Knowledge of automated manufacturing processes and IT integration.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Highly organized, self-motivated, and reliable.

    • Strong communication and training skills.

    • Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving abilities.
