The Group is growing and is seeking to recruit a Sous Chef responsible for kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation of high-quality meals, and maintaining a smooth workflow in the kitchen. This role involves supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support in running the kitchen efficiently and effectively. Oversee the preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes according to the restaurant’s menu and standards.
- Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to ensure high standards of food preparation and presentation. Assign tasks and ensure all team members are working efficiently and safely.
- Monitor the quality of food production, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes. Address any issues related to food quality or consistency immediately.
- Collaborate to create and update the menu, ensuring seasonal and creative dishes that meet customer expectations.
- Help manage inventory levels, assist in ordering ingredients, and ensure proper storage of food items. Maintain control over food waste and portioning to ensure cost efficiency.
- Ensure all kitchen activities adhere to food safety standards, including sanitation, proper food handling, and hygiene practices. Maintain clean workspaces and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment, working closely with the entire kitchen staff, front-of-house teams, and management to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Address any operational issues or staff challenges that arise in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications
- A Culinary degree or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role.
- Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of food preparation, presentation, and kitchen operations.
- Leadership ability with experience managing and mentoring kitchen staff.
- Food Handling certificate.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and be adaptable to changing priorities.
