Job Description

We are looking for a self-starting, motivated person who is proficient with website maintenance and social media networking who excels at doing membership relations and public relations.

The right candidate needs to possess the below skills and abilities:

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a degree or equivalent in communications
  • Ideally possess previous experience in a similar position
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
  • Must possess excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail
  • Possess the ability to keep information confidential and have a good acumen on GDPR requirements
  • Have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships
  • Possess tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms and their usage
  • Possess a wide degree of creativity and latitude

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Analysis and tracking of PR campaigns in relation to events and activities that we organise
  • Building and maintaining relationships with members and media / press representatives
  • General administration of the PR office
  • Managing social media including the online portal

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding the role and the various structures of the NGO. Effect a SWOT analysis on the current PR approach. Plan, develop and implement a PR strategy, policies and procedures
  • Design and review the online content in media announcements and media kits
  • Monitor the corporate image frequently and ensure it is in compliance with the NGO’S image and values. Check and manage content produced for website and social media channels
  • Retain and build long-term relationships with government entities and all relevant stakeholders. Retain and develop long term relationships with foreign partners
  • Ensure the electronic and printed newspapers serve as a proper communication platform for the organisation. Develop relationships with other media houses
