General Overview of Responsibilities 

  • Organization of work schedules for the daily smooth operation of the plant, including the daily plant supervision and fault reporting procedures;
  • Scheduling of employees within their shift to ensure that enough human resources are available for the tasks required. This includes summoning of employees to replace any employees on leave / sick / etc.
  • Distributing work-load to the Operatives, Supervisors and Loaders working in the facility, including those working at the Autoclave; whilst ensuring that the tasks given are being followed rigorously;
  • Recording and reporting of any irregularities;
  • Carry out necessary H&S risk assessments and issue of relevant permits prior to commencement of works, whilst informing management with any extraordinary / emergency tasks that may be required;
  • Report in writing and carrying out any H&S measures to isolate any faulty equipment;
  • Ensure that all necessary readings are taken (fuels, water and electricity)
  • Ensure that all required consumables are replenished in due time;
  • Monitor and reporting of storage spaces of bottom and fly ashes, tallow and bonemeal silos;
  • Ensure that the facility (both the upper and lower levels) are kept clean from blood and any other residual waste; whilst used equipment is stored adequately in their designated areas;
  • Ensure that all odour abatement systems (RTO, ionisers, ducting, misting system, de-odorisers) and automatic doors / gates are operational at all times;
  • Ensure that waste is immediately and properly stored upon admittance whilst waste marshalling areas are kept highly organised with minimum waste bins present;
  • Carrying out basic fixes in emergencies during the night shifts;
  • Responsible from the H&S of all the employees under their responsibility;
  • Must ensure that the employees are wearing the proper PPE as dictated in the procedures;
  • Compile the incident report in case of an incident on site during their shift;
  • Monitor and record the temperatures of the main fridge and reefers on a daily basis and reporting of any faults;
  • Ensure that check lists (such as but not limited to, the daily cleaning sheets, ERA Emissions Report, etc) are submitted and duly filled;
  • Compile the daily report at the end of the shift and forward to your superiors;
  • Ensuring that the following forms are duly filled and submitted: Loading sheets, kiln external temperature sheet, supervision sheets, daily report and emissions exceedance Report;
  • Stock-taking of backlog material at the end of shift;
  • Check the water level of the water reservoirs;
  • Give a hand over to the next shift’s Professional;
  • Other duties which are assigned by their superior;
  • Attend all obligatory training as required by the company in order to be able to fulfil the role whilst obtaining the relevant knowledge, skills and techniques;
  • Follow all applicable WasteServ’s official Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • MQF level 6 in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Be proficient in English and Maltese.
