Responsibilities (not limited to):

- As the nominated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (“MLRO”), be the principal point of contact for liaising with the Malta Financial Services Authority (“MFSA”) and Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (“FIAU”) and other relevant bodies and third parties in connection with AML / CFT Matters;
- Preparing and submitting all of the relevant regulatory reporting to the MFSA and FIAU as required;
- Monitoring the MFSA and FIAU website for the release of revised standards and guidance;
- Leading and managing relevant aspects of any audits or visits from the MFSA or FIAU;
- Develop an effective AML compliance culture in accordance with our existing policies and procedures that reflect current AML
- Legislation and Regulatory Framework and remain up-to-date and fully aware of the company’s obligations under the AML Legislation and take
- reasonable measures to ensure compliance;
- Take overall responsibility for the company’s Policies and Procedures AML Manual;
- Conduct internal AML audits on a regular basis;
- Remain up to date, interpret and disseminate information about regulatory and AML Legislation changes and ensure policies, procedures, documents and compliance tools are adapted to accommodate any such changes;
- Be responsible for the implementation of an effective Customer Due Diligence Policy and Customer Acceptance Policy;
- Be responsible for maintaining an up to date Customer Risk Assessment process taking into account the risks identified for the business;
- Assisting with the preparation and updating of internal policies and procedures continuing to ensure compliance with local regulatory standard;
- Be responsible for maintaining an effective and relevant Business Risk Assessment encompassing present and any future risks the business is or may become exposed to;
- Be responsible for a transaction monitoring programme within the AML / CFT / Financial Crime Framework and undertake implementation, including the making of recommendations for improvements and the monitoring of their implementation;
- Performing the MLRO role across the licensed business of the company;
- Ensuring proper records and files are kept;
- Providing support and training to the staff related to compliance and AML matters;
- Reporting frequently and exhaustively to the Board on all matters of responsibility.
Core Competencies Required:
- At least 3 to 4 years of financial services experience and at least 2 years’ experience as an MLRO - ideally in the pensions and trust environment;
- Experience of working in EU Financial Services Industry in Malta ;
- Qualifications - AML Certifications, Lawyer, Accountant;
- Fluency in English is a must;
- Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of the Maltese regulatory and AML framework.
