Job Description

Mezzodi is Valletta’s newest Italian style trattoria headed by Malta’s renowned Diacono family restaurateurs.

The restaurant will be offering the finest of Italy’s classic dishes with a local twist within the luxurious setting of Valletta’s newest and most luxurious 5 star hotel; Domus Zammitello.

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and operating as a café in between we require an experienced & passionate team with whom we can build Valletta’s latest brand.

We are currently looking to recruit Food Servers.

A team of hard-working individuals with a passion for high-quality food and beverage and outstanding customer service.

The daily role would include:

  • Welcoming and seating guests
  • Advising guests of any specials and assisting with beverage selection
  • Consistent monitoring of food, beverage and service standards
  • Handling guest complaints
  • Suggest food and beverages to the guest and also try to upsell
  • Take food and beverage orders from the guest on the handheld Point of sale (POS) system
  • Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by Supervisor
  • Filling in for absent staff as needed
  • Punch the order on the POS machine and make sure to enter the special requirements made by the guest while ordering the food
  • Communicate to the guest and provide assistance with their queries
  • Serve food and beverage to the guest as per the course of order
  • Observe guests and ensure their satisfaction with the food and service
  • Promptly respond to guest with any additional request
  • Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses
  • Prepare mixed drinks for service to your customers table
  • Properly open and pour wine at the tableside
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
  • Understands and can communicate products and services available
  • Must have some familiarity with basic cooking skills

Any other duties as deemed suitable by the Director and Supervisor.

Requirements for all staff:

  • Fluent in English
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • A passion for food, beverage and excellent customer service with an eye for detail
