The Foundation for Medical Services is seeking to recruit a Legal Manager to join its team.
Main objectives of the position
This position reports directly to the FMS CEO. The Legal Manager will be responsible for all the legal matters and issues at the FMS as well as to provide legal advice to the Board of Directors and also to the Foundation itself, especially within the Human Resources department.

The Foundation for Medical Services is seeking to recruit a Legal Manager to join its team.
Main objectives of the position
This position reports directly to the FMS CEO. The Legal Manager will be responsible for all the legal matters and issues at the FMS as well as to provide legal advice to the Board of Directors and also to the Foundation itself, especially within the Human Resources department.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of legal activities to all departments within the FMS;
- Draft and negotiate contracts as necessary;
- Advise on general business law issues and manage the legal issues of all areas of the company, including but not limited to corporate matters, procurement, safety, security, insurance and employment;
- To anticipate and manage any legal risks for the company;
- To secure compliance of business operations with relevant laws and regulations;
- Be able to deliver high-quality work under deadlines;
- Prepare legal letters and agreements as necessary;
- Analyzing contracts and legal documents to ensure that they are in the company's best interests;
- Provides legal advice to the FMS and its employees in preparation for court cases as well as acts as the FMS’ representative during court hearings;
- Performs legal work in accordance with the standards of the profession including the preparation and filing of judicial acts;
- Carry out legal research, perform analysis, draw reports and board memos as may be required;
- Liaises with the Office of the Attorney General, State Advocate and other Government departments as necessary in matters related to the Foundation;
- Documenting and keeping all the legal documents securely;
- Collaborate with stakeholders and FMS departments to educate them on compliance, legal and data protection requirements and to continuously promote a culture of compliance, integrity and data protection internally;
- Responsible for handling confidential matters in a professional and discreet manner;
- Provide relevant expert legal advice and guidance to HR, Management and other departments that may arise from time to time;
- Draft and / or oversee the preparation of internal privileged and confidential communications regarding sensitive or confidential matters;
- Follow and adhere to the update of local legislations and forward any updated / new / revocation of legislations and sub-legislations to the department concerned on a weekly basis;
- Carry out any other duties which may be requested by the employer from time to time.
Eligibility requirements
By the closing date and time of this call for applications, applicants must be FMS employees who are / have:
- In possession of a Doctor of Laws (LLD) qualification or a master’s in Advocacy;
- A warrant to practice as an advocate in Malta.

- Police conduct certificate (obtained within the last six months);
