About the job
We are looking for a dedicated Operations Officer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will assist the Vice President of the Corporate Finance Credit Administration department. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, trustworthy, and capable of prioritizing tasks while working independently with minimal supervision. This position offers a unique chance to deepen your expertise in corporate finance credit administration, providing significant opportunities for career growth within the banking sector.

Duties and responsibilities
​The candidate will be responsible for performing duties related to corporate finance lending facilities including:

  • Providing excellent service to customers, attending diligently and in a timely manner to their requests.

  • Processing and monitoring loan disbursements including thorough vetting of invoices and supporting transaction documentation, to ensure accuracy and compliance with all relevant facility letter conditions.

  • Conducting thorough compliance and credit-related due diligence checks, leveraging access to key credit assessment systems, including the Central Bank's Central Credit Registry, to ensure accurate and comprehensive evaluation of creditworthiness.

  • Assisting in the preparation of facility letters and security documents whilst also ensuring the timely provision and perfection of the security held by the Bank.

  • Proactively following up with clients on overdue principal or interest payments and ensuring the timely perfection of security, including the maintenance of required insurance and other related documentation.

  • Liaising with Notaries and/or Legal Advisors to expedite pre-deed and post-deed legal formalities.

  • Participating in contract signings held at the Bank, assisting in the preparation of cheques, and ensuring the compilation and organization of all required documentation.

  • Compiling / preparing returns, reports, statistics and other ad hoc reports relating to credit facilities as required from time to time.

  • Organising documentation in an orderly filing system and perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

  • Maintaining compliance and adherence at all times with the Bank’s internal risk policies, guidelines, regulatory requirements and operating procedures.

  • Coordinating with outsourced third parties for waiver-related activities and other related duties.

  • Performing any additional duties as assigned by management, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to the evolving needs of the organization.


Qualifications and skills
​Experience in a similar role is an asset, however, training will be provided to the right candidate. The selected candidate should have a positive attitude, a strong aptitude to learn, be meticulous, team-oriented and must have:

  • A diploma / certificate in Banking and Finance or equivalent.

  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with an excellent command in both English and Maltese.

  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.

  • Be able to multi-task and prioritise work effectively in line with business exigencies.

  • Be conversant with Microsoft Office applications.
