Job Description

As a Reception Porter, you will be one of the first points of contact for the company and you will provide support across the organization. You will handle the flow of people through the business and ensure that all responsibilities are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner. You will be reporting to the Front Office Manager.

Duties:

  • Takes suitcases and bags from guests or passengers checking in and, where applicable, tags it and provides customer identification slips
  • Carries luggage while escorting guests or passengers to their rooms
  • Explains features of rooms and accommodation facilities
  • Tends to the needs of guests or passengers for the duration of their stay
  • Delivers messages to guestrooms
  • Runs errands for guests or passengers, in some cases
  • Carries departing guests’ or passengers’ luggage to cars or taxis
  • Maintains appearance, cleanliness, and safety standards of the lobby
  • Ensures guests and passengers leave safely in the event of an evacuation
  • Assists reception, housekeeping, and restaurant staff as required
  • To undertake all training as required (eg, first aid, health and safety, customer service)
  • To adhere to all fire safety test procedures and to assist in the evacuation process in the event of fire

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a hotel / busy environment considered to be advantageous
  • Previous experience working as a Porter considered being advantageous
  • Willing to be trained on the company’s processes
  • Good understanding of how the role contributes to the success of the hotel
  • Verbal and written communications skills in English and any other European language
  • Eye for detail
  • Willing to work on a shift basis in a hotel environment including nights
  • Willing to attend company training and development programs
  • Maintains a high level of personal hygiene
  • Conforms with hotels grooming standards
  • Good time management
  • Follows directions with ease
  • Warm and friendly disposition
