Reporting to the Front Office Receptionist, the Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes a proactive approach to the cleaning and servicing of guest rooms and surrounding areas including back-of-house activity of the Housekeeping department, anticipating potential opportunities

  • Maintains effective communication within the department and ensures that the Supervisor is kept well informed of any problems / queries that have arisen

  • Report any problems / complaints

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and replenishment of supplies in guestrooms and ensures the comfort of all Hotel guests as established by hotel procedures and standards

  • Cleans and services guestrooms, public areas and back–of–house according to the established procedures and hotel standards and reports any discrepancies

  • Ensures that the work areas, equipment, and supplies are always kept in a clean and orderly manner and will report any maintenance defects directly to the concerned department

  • Check rooms and common areas, including stairways and lounge areas, for cleanliness

  • Coordinate work activities among departments

  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies

  • Examine the property to determine the need for repairs or replacement of furniture and/ or equipment

  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies

  • Monitor and replenish cleaning product stock

  • Perform various cleaning duties


Qualifications and Assets:

  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a similar position

  • Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products

  • Ability to work to deadlines, with changing priorities whilst remaining calm under pressure

  • Able to work various shifts, including evenings, public holidays and weekends

  • Excellent organizational and team management skills

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to get along well with co-workers and customers / clients

  • Must be proactive in carrying out assigned duties

  • Proactive approach, with exceptional initiative and problem-solving abilities to ensure the highest levels of productivity and guest satisfaction
