Job Description

We are looking for a Chef to join our team at a small café opening soon. The individual will be responsible for the entire running of this outlet’s open kitchen, including the creation of menus, effective cost control of all resources, food safety and hygiene.

The chef requires to have excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities, enjoy working in a team, be reliable, flexible and hold a professional attitude at work. Favourable daytime working hours.


  • Enforce strict health and hygiene standards
  • Ensure adequacy of supplies at the cooking stations
  • Ensure an organised and tidy kitchen set up
  • Put effort into optimizing the cooking process with attention to speed and quality
  • Prepare menus in collaboration with colleagues
  • Be knowledgeable and up to date on trends in plating at modern cafes
  • Help to maintain a climate of smooth and friendly cooperation

Qualifications and Assets:

  • Possibly qualified from a recognized culinary arts school
  • At least 1-year experience working in a similar position
  • Food handling category B qualification
  • Have a passion for food and drink
  • Fluent in English and any other language
  • Possess a positive working attitude with attention to detail
  • Be a team player and show flexibility
  • Possess a valid work permit to work in Malta and clean police conduct
