Security Officer

be. HOTEL is an urban 4-star hotel with 293 guest rooms. It is conveniently located within Bay Street Tourist Complex and forms part of the Bay Street Group.

We are currently seeking to strengthen our team by engaging proactive, committed and suitably qualified individuals to join our security team.

As a Security Officer, you are responsible for monitoring and controlling staff entrances, patrolling complex and back of the house on a regular basis, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for both guests and colleagues.

Main duties and responsibilities include but, are not limited to:

• Monitor and control staff entrances


• Maintain system that monitors contractors working in the hotel in accordance with company health and safety policies


• Maintain system that records the issue and receipt of departmental keys


• Operate, check and monitor the CCTV system


• Patrol the complex and hotel on a regular basis ensuring fire exits are clear and free from obstruction


• Support evacuation of the hotel during fire alarm situations


• Ensure hotel facilities and function rooms remain secure and locked when not in use


• Maintain the security log book and incident reports


• Investigate and report all allegations of theft, criminal damage and other incidents


• Manage undesirable behavior in a professional manner


• Report any maintenance or hazard issues to the supervisor on duty


• Adhere to all health and safety regulations

Furthermore, the ideal candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

• Certification in safety training and/or licensed as a Security Officer or Law Enforcement Officer will be highly desired


• First aid qualification


• Must be knowledgeable about fire procedures, bomb threats and hotel evacuation procedures


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Good physical condition


• A minimum of two years of security experience


• Fluency in English is a must. Additional languages will be considered an asset


• Should be well versed in local law/government regulation


• Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information
