Introduction
The Malta Red Cross offers multiple courses available in both 'Online' and mixed online and 'in person' course sessions, for both companies and individuals. Certificates will be sent in pdf format via email upon successful completion of the course.
Participants who have done their course completely online will be given the opportunity to attend a 1-hour practical session at Pembroke, according to a schedule provided at the end of the online course.
What you'll learn
Adult and Child
A sixteen hour course, which covers essential first aid skills that could prove vital when faced with a medical emergency both when dealing with adults and when dealing with children. Through theoretical sessions, discussions, demonstrations and scenarios, the participants will cover a myriad of topics related to illnesses and traumatic incidents. This course is aimed at anyone aged over 14 who wants to be prepared and trained in what to do when dealing with a casualty in an out-of-hospital setting. This is a comprehensive course aimed at preparing the participants to deal with any medical emergency since it imparts skills aimed at first aid for all ages. It aims to raise the First Aider’s confidence to perform safely and knowledgeably be it on the place of work, at home or in any other unexpected circumstances.
Basic First Aid
A ten hour course where participants are trained in essential first aid skills that could prove vital when faced with a medical emergency. Through theoretical sessions, discussions, demonstrations, and scenarios, the participants will cover a myriad of topics related to illness and traumatic incidents. This course is aimed at anyone aged over 14 who wants to be prepared and trained in what to do when dealing with a casualty in an out-of-hospital setting. This course also meets the requirements as an extra accreditation for university students.
Those who would like to include Paediatrics and learn how to deal with emergencies concerning babies & toddlers, may book for the Paediatric 'add on' course, or do the Adult & Child course which combines both instead.
Basic First Aid (ONLINE)
The Malta Red Cross Online Courses are held in real-time and interactive, thus participants can reap the benefits of classroom training from the safety and comfort of their own home. These courses consist of a mixture of theory and demonstrations which aim at giving participants the confidence and ability to put theory into practice when faced with real-life situations. All courses allow plenty of opportunity for one-to-one interaction with the trainer, through the videoconferencing program being used.
Bonus
A free practical session will be offered at our premises to all participants who finish their course. Further details will be provided via email.
Paediatric PAED
This course is an add-on to the First Aid Course and participants must hold a valid Malta Red Cross First Aid Certificate in order to take this course. It concentrates on injuries and illness associated with children from newborn to early teens. This course is extremely relevant for parents, grandparents, care workers, babysitters, LSAs, teachers and all those who deal with children, either in the workplace or on a voluntary basis.
Certification (all courses)
A certificate, which is valid for three years, will be awarded at the end of the course to those participants who attend all the sessions and obtain a pass mark in the multiple choice test.
Courses are based on the European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 and International First Aid and Resuscitation Guidelines 2020 (issued by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies)
