Role Description
The Head Waiter / Waitress is responsible for leading the service team, ensuring excellent customer service and overseeing daily operations in the dining area. This role involves managing waitstaff, attending to customer needs, and ensuring smooth communication between the front of house and the kitchen.
The Head Waiter / Waitress sets the tone for a positive dining experience and plays a key role in delivering high-quality service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Waitstaff team, ensuring consistent and efficient service.
- Provide ongoing training and mentorship to waitstaff to maintain high service standards.
- Schedule shifts and manage staffing levels to meet customer demand.
- Resolve any issues among staff and address performance-related concerns.
- Ensure that all waitstaff are properly dressed according to company policy.
- Greet and welcome guests, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Attend to guest needs and handle special requests or complaints promptly.
- Ensure tables are properly set, food orders are accurate, and the dining experience meets the restaurant’s quality standards.
- Liaise between the kitchen and waitstaff to ensure orders are delivered on time and meet customer expectations.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the dining area.
- Manage reservations, table assignments, and walk-ins to maximize seating capacity.
- Assist in cash handling, billing, and end-of-shift reports.
- Attend to Social Media Pages and answer clients’ requests in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety standards.
- Address any guest concerns regarding food quality or service and resolve them to enhance the dining experience.
- Implement and maintain procedures to ensure consistent service quality.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless service flow.
- Communicate daily with management regarding service, staff performance, and guest feedback.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss areas for improvement and share customer feedback.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a waiter with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Food Handling certificate.
