We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief People Officer (CPO) to join our growing company, which operates a large network of food stores across Malta and Gozo. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be a key member of our Executive team, responsible for leading the strategic direction of our HR function and fostering a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture that aligns with our core values and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership: Develop and execute HR strategies that support the company’s growth objectives, foster employee engagement, and drive organizational performance.
  • Talent management: Oversee recruitment, retention, and development programs to ensure we attract and nurture top talent across all levels. Devise talent acquisition plans to build strong pipelines that meet our evolving hiring needs.
  • Employer branding: Lead employer branding initiatives to position our company as an employer of choice across Malta and Gozo.
  • Alignment with business objectives: Ensure that HR plans across all departments and locations are closely aligned with the overall business objectives.
  • Hiring and onboarding: Develop and continuously improve hiring, onboarding, and succession planning strategies to ensure a seamless experience for new hires and internal talent development.
  • Stakeholder communication: Maintain ongoing communication with all stakeholders to understand and stay ahead of workforce requirements and challenges.
  • Culture and engagement: Champion a positive workplace culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring our team members feel valued and empowered.
  • Employee relations: Lead initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction, productivity, and well-being, while managing complex employee relations issues with sensitivity and expertise.
  • Compliance and policies: Ensure compliance with Maltese labor laws and regulations, while continuously refining HR policies to reflect best practices.
  • Leadership development: Design and implement leadership development programs to build a pipeline of future leaders within the organization.
  • HR technology and innovation: Leverage HR technology to streamline processes, enhance employee experiences, and support data-driven decision-making.

Who You Are:

  • A seasoned HR professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in the retail or FMCG sector.
  • Proven track record in leading HR functions across multiple locations.
  • Strong knowledge of Maltese labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to balance big-picture vision with hands-on execution.
