Job Description

PLUM is a holding company that owns different brands under the umbrella of chocolate / food factory. The brand Sunday in Scotland creates luxurious, artistic chocolates, cakes and confectionery, combining sweets, art and culture. In addition, Sunday in Scotland has sister brands that produce artisan bakeries and viennoiseries. Furthermore, the business operates several retail boutique outlets in Malta under the brand name Sunday in Scotland and the Masters.

The duties and responsibilities of the Factory Production Manager include but are not limited to

  • Manage day-to-day operations in the factory to ensure smooth production and operations at brand-quality standards
  • Overseeing the organization of the production plan strategically and ad-hoc to ensure sufficient supply (incl. high quantity orders, daily orders from the retail partners, as well as customized individual orders); troubleshooting production problems on a timely basis
  • Ensure that food and non-food inventory needs, stocking and ordering are in a positive flow
  • Responsible for alignment between the production factory and retail outlets / cooperation partners / and clients. Be the main point of contact to coordinate between the operational departments and troubleshoot, if needed
  • Create SOPs, policies and procedures and follow through with implementation with the aim of maintaining and increasing the efficiency of business operations
  • Oversee sales targets and develop / implement an action plan (short and long-term) to ensure timely and cost-effective production and aim for continuous sales increase
  • Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolve problems; responsible for finance (budget) of the operations; identify trends
  • Understand production costs and efficiencies, and control the production budget in alignment with the Chief Financial Officer
  • Ensure timely and correct deliveries according to the schedule (domestic and international)
  • Create efficient business processes, operations systems and workflows to streamline, standardize, and accelerate initiatives
  • Lead the production teams and / or support department head to ensure a motivated and well-performing workforce (including work roster, leave requests, timekeeping, sick leave management, overtime, employee relations, onboarding plan, etc.)
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable governmental regulations within all business departments (including sanitary and food safety guidelines, health and safety regulations, correct labelling, recording of production batches, etc.)
  • Overseeing that retail outlets are processing orders / transfers in a timely manner, merchandising goods on the sales floor, maintaining perfect visual standards, being aware of inventory/s hortage concerns, managing replenishment needs, etc. according to procedures and company / brand standards
  • Thoroughly understanding the brand, the social media brand, the company’s founder vision, the company structure and future international plans

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Previous experience in retail business and producing factory environment
  • Very good knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Chemical Safety
  • Very good working knowledge of MS Office, as well as general IT knowledge of working with stock control and order software
  • Adaptable, flexible and willing to collaborate across functional boundaries
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work
  • High level of attention to detail
  • High level of numeracy; have analytical and strong strategic planning skills
