Playmobil has been manufacturing toys for 50 years and makes use of highly technical processes. Playmobil Malta Ltd. is one of the most important manufacturing plants within the Horst Brandstätter Group. In Malta, Playmobil is one of the largest employers on the island.
With a 24×7 production operation at its Hal Far plant, the Company is seeking to employ a Health and Safety Responsible Officer (HSRO) within its management team.
Forming part of the leadership team, the HSRO is mainly expected to evaluate the existing H&S management system, conduct a gap analysis against best practices and where applicable see through adequate changes.
In the role, the chosen candidate is expected to be practical, work in a structured manner and ensure that legal requirements are met and where sensible, exceeded.
Working across all levels of the organisation, the HSRO needs to be able to influence others in using applicable principles and adhere to legislative impositions. In doing so the incumbent will train, coach, guide and audit others including the H&S representatives.
At the same time, in the eventuality of any sudden unplanned need for immediate intervention, the person needs to be a quick thinker on their feet and assertive in making adequate decisions.
Candidates are expected to be able to communicate fluently in English, and ideally Maltese, and to hold a qualification relevant to the role.
Whilst citing relevant work experience, candidates are expected to demonstrate the art of persuasiveness, collaboration and teamwork to show their ability to get results through people.
Good reporting skills, an ability to interpret legislation in a practical manner and a flair for working with numbers are also needed.
