Job Description

We are currently seeking a Compliance Professional.

General overview of responsibilities

  • Perform duties as directed by the Professional – Head of Compliance;
  • Ensure that the department goals and targets are met;
  • Act as a liaison with various local Regulators and / or Authorities;
  • Apply for new Environmental Permits (EP and / or IPPC), renewals and variations;
  • Apply for licences with Regulating Authorities;
  • Apply and / or renew Consignment Permits;
  • Apply for ERA Waste Carrier Registrations;
  • Renew ERA Waste Broker Permit;
  • Apply for ERA Export Permits;
  • Coordinate the submission of WasteServ’s Annual Reporting to ERA;
  • Compile WasteServ’s reply to Authorities’ inspection reports;
  • Monitor, and where possible facilitate, the implementation of the improvement programme;
  • Carry out compliance reviews against environmental permits and applicable legislation;
  • Raise, monitor and close off Corrective Action Requests emerging from inspections or audits;
  • Provide training to various personnel on permitting and regulatory requirements;
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, data compilation and interpretation;
  • Participate in training if and when required both locally and abroad;
  • Other ad hoc duties as may be required;
  • Attend all obligatory training as required by the company in order to be able to fulfil the role whilst obtaining the relevant knowledge, skills and techniques.

Eligibility criteria

  • The applicant must have a first degree at MQF Level 6 from a recognized University in one of the following subjects: Geography, Earth Systems, Environment, Environmental;
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience preferably in the waste management / environmental industry;
  • Be proficient in Maltese and English languages and is able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Be able to manage workload and meet deadlines;
  • Be able to work independently as well as in a team;
  • Be computer literate;
  • Be in possession of a valid driving license;
  • Be in possession of valid and clean conduct.
