We are currently looking for a Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team on a full-time basis. Our Speech and Language Pathologists provide specialist assessment and interventions utilizing the necessary strategies as required. This includes monitoring and training staff directly involved in the implementation of the Speech and Language Pathologist treatment plan, as well as attending client reviews. It is essential that good quality standards of practice are met and maintained.
Our Speech and Language Pathologists form part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) that provides therapeutic and educational services for all clients registered to Inspire within a therapeutic hub.

The service has been set up to:

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments and provide a therapeutic care package for each client.
  • Provide physical, psychological and social rehabilitation through individual and group sessions.
  • Work in partnership with clients, carers and voluntary organisations to develop a resource of information, advice and self-management techniques.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of Speech and Language Pathology as assigned within the programmes.
  • To follow multiple service users in different programmes assigned by your direct superior.
  • To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs using specialist Speech and Language Pathology skills. This should include evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To plan and implement client-centred individual and group interventions, as well as domiciliary visits, using clinical reasoning and a wide range of interventions to achieve therapeutic goals.
  • To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for clients with multiple needs to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
  • To work with clients, carers and relatives who may have distressing social circumstances.
  • To provide written reports and feedback as necessary on service users.
  • To participate in group InterVision and supervision as requested.
  • To participate in and, where applicable design and deliver training as directed by superiors.
  • To contribute to the operational planning and implementation of policy and service development.
  • To assist in the delivery of delegated areas of the Speech and Language Pathology development plan within the service.
  • To ensure that professional and up-to-date written and electronic records, as well as activity data are maintained in accordance with Inspire standards.
  • To provide specialist Speech and Language Pathology reports relevant to the practice setting.
  • To contribute to the operational planning and implementation of policy and service development.
  • To assist in the delivery of delegated areas of the Speech and Language Pathology development plan within the service.
  • To provide input and advice on Speech and Language Pathology to other staff, attending service meetings as required and in agreement with an established line manager.

The ideal candidate must be in possession of the following:

  • MQF Level 6 (degree) in Speech and Language Pathology or an equivalent, recognized comparable qualification.
  • Registration with the CPCM (Council for Professions Complimentary to Medicine).
  • Previous experience in a similar setting with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) clients or challenging behaviour will be considered as an asset.
  • Excellent organization skills and time management.
  • Highly proficient in English or Maltese language (both spoken and written).

Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunisation.
