The Role
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the Assistant Maintenance Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing all installation, repair, and upkeep operations of the company’s facilities. This position requires a solid understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and other crafts, as well as proficiency in maintenance processes and health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and oversee maintenance procedures, schedules, and repairs.
  • Conduct inspections, resolve issues, and provide maintenance support.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
  • Monitor equipment inventory and ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Supervise staff, allocate workload, and ensure timely repairs.
  • Keep maintenance logs, report activities, and maintain accurate records.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance plans and special inspections.
  • Uphold company policies, ethical behaviour, and employee performance.
  • Assist in audits, provide timely feedback, and support employees and home managers.
  • Ensure communication, support, and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Report to the Maintenance Manager regularly.

Skills and Requirements

  • Hold a licence A and B in electrical installation.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or another managerial role will be an asset.
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations.
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems etc.
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment (boilers, calorifiers, industrial tumble driers and washing machines).
  • Holding qualifications in diploma level of Electrical or Mechanical or Maintenance operations or HVAC of MQF level 4 or higher will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities.
