Job Description

The 1926 Collection is currently comprised of 2 luxury properties situated in Sliema and Valletta. The group is proud to be expanding and will soon welcome an additional 2 properties, each one with its own distinct identity.

The 1926 Collection is seeking to recruit a Head of Maintenance who will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Maintenance department.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Directly managing the Maintenance department.
  • Managing plant equipment including but not limited to plant room in the main hotel, pool equipment located in the various outlets / properties which the group owns, hot water systems, preventative duties and liaising with respective suppliers on commissioning of equipment in new projects.
  • Work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluating performance and making recommendations for personnel action; motivating employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement with all team members, which includes due consideration to product and process quality and cost reduction.
  • Providing technical assistance and supervision on fault localisation and subsequent repair works on equipment.
  • Assuming responsibility for the safety and financial performance of the Maintenance department.
  • Providing hands-on leadership to teams to ensure productivity and efficient use of materials and equipment.
  • Overseeing the maintenance work within the hotel properties including preventive maintenance.
  • Designing and improving existing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.
  • Carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment faults.
  • Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment.
  • Ensuring there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.
  • Ensuring adherence to proper preventive maintenance plans.

Skill-Sets and Requirements:

  • Ideally five (5) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in a hotel environment will be considered an asset.
  • In possession of a clean driving license (category B).
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet competing demands.
  • Must be accurate, precise, thorough and give attention to detail.
  • Good leadership skills and ability to manage groups of people.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and excellent teamwork skills.
  • Currently living and working in Malta.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering will be considered an asset.
  • Local Electrical license A and B.
  • Familiarity with the latest HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).
